Methodology & data
Full transparency on where prices come from and how our metrics are computed.
Price sources
Prices come from Skinport (official public API), our primary source for the entire CS2 catalog. Steam and CSFloat supplement certain skins. We are not affiliated with Valve, Steam, or these marketplaces: this is third-party market data, provided for informational purposes.
Update frequency
The market is sampled continuously (roughly hourly) and we build our own history over time, at two resolutions: hourly (1h) and daily (1d). To avoid duplicates, a candle is only recorded when the price actually moves.
Index calculation
Each index (CS2 Composite, Knives, Gloves, AK-47, AWP) is the average price of its constituents. The “CS2 Composite” aggregates the 500 most liquid skins on the market. The daily change compares the current level to the open. The useful measure is the % change; the absolute level is only a reference.
Data “being built”
Our history has only recently started: until a skin has enough real data points, its chart shows a clearly labeled synthetic previewthat gives way to real data as soon as it's available. The displayed prices and changes are always real.
Disclaimer
cschart is an analytics tool, not investment advice. Skin prices are volatile and can vary from one marketplace to another. Always check on the marketplace before any transaction.
